BPHS – Timing of Conveyances

Chapter 15 Verse 10-14 states that: If the ascendant lord is a benefic while the 4th lord is in fall or in the 11th and the significator (Venus) is in the 12th – the native will obtain conveyances in his 12th year.

Please decode the above ages mentioned as i will post the shlokas in parts for more detailed information.

      Given: ascendant lord is well placed. 4L is in 11 (moon in 11H) and venus is in 12H, The native will obtain conveyances at age 12.

      Karaka of conveyances is Venus.

      Age 12 will activate 12H in natal chart where venus is placed. Venus is exalted in the 12th house.

      As taught in Q n A session 1, the chart can be rotated by placing karaka in lagna and analyzed.

      Eg making venus as lagna will give idea about wife and married life.

      Making saturn as lagna will give idea about profession and longevity.

      If we rotate chart from venus then moon goes in 12th house (as moon is 12th to venus)

      Moon (natural 4L) and venus both are karakas of conveyances, hence the native will get conveyances, when 12th house gets activated at age 12.

      example/Idea :- 

      The karaka of 2H (money) are Jupiter and venus. Hence their activation should bring wealth.

      If we rotate chart from karaka then house code must also work from karaka.

      Hypothesis:- if Venus is placed 12th to Jupiter then it must get activated by house code at age 12 (cycle of house code 12). Since Jupiter is the natural lord of 12 and karaka of 2H, the activation of 12H must bring wealth to the native.

      Search made in databank: Aries ascendant,  Jupiter in leo 5H, Venus in Cancer 4H (these placements were selected because Jupiter and venus are comfortable here)

      Following chart  was selected Randomly from astrodata bank.

      Pierre Guiral (DOB: 3 July 1909, time 1.51, Marseille, France),

      French educator, a secondary school teacher then university professor. He held the contemporary History chair of Aix from 1955. Guiral was the author of many history books, often writing of the history of Marseille and of biographies.

      He was a professor and published several papers as depicted above.

      Using the information about the year of publication, we can say that at age 46, 47, 54, 67, 69, 71, 73, 74, 77, 79, 83, 85  he published his findings.

      This means these ages must fulfill conditions for publication.

      Jupiter is the karaka of knowledge.

      Karaka of Publication is Mercury.

      The zodiac sign for paper work and publications is gemini and natural house is the third house.

      The sign for editing, corrections (required for any publications) is virgo.

      Hence, activation of mercury, Jupiter, gemini, third hosue and virgo are essential for publication.

      Observations made (house code and sign code from karaka mercury):-

      Thus by rotating the chart from mercury who is the karaka of publication, The ages at which he published his work are correlated.

      11th lord – Sat and Rahu in 4th house and

      4th lord moon is in 11th house whereas moon got exalted in Taurus. In the 12th year moon became 11th to 2nd house gives conveyances.

      Although, there no clear exchange of lords of 11th & 4th house, But in case of Michael Jackson (born on 29 Aug 1958) – Libra Lagna – 11th lord Sun with Mercury is aspected by 4th Lord Saturn from 2nd house. He gained social status in the year 1970 (Achieved six Gold albums by age 11).

      As per BPHS, Venus is used as karaka for conveyances and exalts in 12th H.
      So if 4th Lord being placed in 11H, and vice versa, in the 12th year gain of conveyances happens.

      sir ji….if ascndant lord is benific means gives good results…4th lord in fall means deblitated..let say moon is 4th lord deblitated in 8th house. ..8th house is inheritence and it will aspect its exaltations house 2nd house ..means accumulation of wealth or property or vhicle as all shows accumulation..also veus in 12th house in its exaltation house karka of vehicle and saturn the karka of mechinary also the karak of 12th house…3rd lord murcury got deblitated as 3rd house is house of driving…venus the natural 2nd lord in 12th house shows expenditure so native will spend money on vehicle…or any contructed property..ans accumulate it…

      .if 4th lord is in 11th house then it is placed 8th to its own house again shows inheritence and 12th hous is house of gain of 11th house and venus placed there shows the native will spend his gai on vehicle or property…

      so it is my opinion ..hope u can think of it ..as i m right or wrong..

      which ever planet u placed in 4th house and see its debiltation house may be related to 12th, 2nd or Lagna…..

      Hello Everyone,
      With regards to the shloka quoted above, will this technique get activate in the age of 24, 36, etc. as well. I have gone through horoscopes that I have on which some version of this technique is applicable. In most cases it cannot be confirmed since there isn’t a lot of information available about the native on Astro Databank or Wikipedia. In some cases it may be working but the event is not gain of conveyances and the age is not 12. I am yet to apply the technique to the ages in additions of 12 years yet and will update after that.

      In the Notes section (page 144) for the above verse, the author (R. Santhanam) has said the following:

      It is not known why the 4th lord should be in fall for early obtainment of conveyances. This condition seems to be the result of defective text as the next line adds that the 4th lord may be in the 11th. To me it occurs that the correct version should read as : If the ascendant lord is a benefic while the 11th is tenanted by Venus and the 4th lord, early obtainment of conveyances (around the 12th year) will come to pass.

      [Original] Chapter 4, Verse 10-14: If the ascendant lord is a benefic while the 4th is in fall or in the 11th and the significator (Venus) is in the 12th, the native wil obtain conveyances in his 12th year.

      Each year is counted from the ascendant by going around the zodiac so the 11th year of the native will be in the 11th house and 12th year of the native will be in the 12th house.

      If the ascendant lord is a benefic, the native will be fortunate during the first 12 years from birth.
      When the 4th lord is in debilitation (fall) or in the 11th (upchaya house = improves over time so probably not a good placement during the first 12 years of the native’s life; also the house of gain), either placement will prevent the native from getting a conveyance. If the 4th lord is in debilitation, prevent the acquisition altogether and if in the 11th house, prevent the acquisition in the 11th year of the native.
      However, when Venus (karaka for vehicles) is in the 12th house (Venus is exalted in the 12th house of Pisces and 12th house is also expenses), Venus will override the 4th lord debilitation or it’s placement in the 11th house and allow the native to acquire a conveyance when the 12th house is activated.

      [Revised] Chapter 4, Verse 10-14: If the ascendant lord is a benefic while the 11th is tenanted by Venus and the 4th lord, early obtainment of conveyances (around the 12th year) will come to pass.

      If the ascendant lord is a benefic, the native will be fortunate during the first 12 years from birth.
      When the 11th has both Venus (karaka of conveyances) and 4th lord (karaka for conveyances), the 11th house upachaya affliction gets reduced by Venus and the 4th lord. Here it’s interesting to note that the author has revised the BPHS statement to say “around the 12th year” which could also mean the 11th or the 13th year. My assessment is that the native will acquire the conveyance in the 11th year if the revised statement is accurate. The native may also acquire the conveyance in the 12th year since Venus is activated in the 12 year (Venus exalted in the 12th year)

      Please comment/update/correct.

      The Khemraj publication in Hindi has the following version:

      Lagnesh soumya budh ho aur sukhesh neech rashi may ho, matrikaraka dvadash bhav may ho, sukhesh labhsthan may ho to jatak ke 12 ve varsh me palaki ki svari ka labh hoga.

      If the ascendant lord is benefic or Mercury*
      [another interpretation: If the ascendant lord is benefic Mercury]
      AND the 4th lord is debilitated
      OR the 4th lord is in the 12th bhava
      OR the 4th lord is in the 11th house,
      then the native will gain a palanquin (mode of transportation) in the 12th year.

      My hindi is rusty so please correct the translation. Once the translation is corrected, we can reverse engineer the rationale.

      *Mercury doesn’t seem to appear in the Sanskrit text so not sure why it was inluded in the Hindi translation.
