lunar day of each of the two lunar phases – Shukla Paksa and the Krishna Paksa. 2 ekadashi s in a month. personally I prefer full moon. so we can fallow according to time ( if females – should check the schedule as per nature-cycle )

Books are available on this, ask at any Puja store. Gita press has a good book called Ekadashi Vrat Ka Mahatmya (available on amazon). Every Ekadashi has a story and a mahima associated to it. Follow the process and read the vrat katha given in the book for that ekadashi. Also chant Sri Vishnu Sahasranaam.
