donations and charity can be done to anyone needy, if you want to do for ancestors specifically or for moon then amavasya , sankranti and purnima are most apt and milk, milk products rice pudding etc and is you want to do planet wise then depending on planet day like Saturday for saturn, Sunday for sun etc, and their significating items like black gram or oil for saturn, green daal for mercury etc, if you are not hindu and as you are asking for Christian and Muslim then I’m sure these religions also have important days in their scriptures for ancestors, Christians can do on the 40 day fasting time and muslims can do in their Ramadan time when people conclude their fasts and needy people don’t hv food to conclude fasts would be best time and people to donate or also during the death anniversary of our ancestors for any religion….donations should be mainly for helping without expecting any return and any day is good day to donate and do good, but depending on your preferences you can donate…alternatively you can select a particular day in a month and make sure to donate on that day and help people in charity hones, shelters, orphanages or old age homes or specially abled and blind schools, which ever you can relate to or pulls your heart…kindness goes long way…hope this helps…jai mahadev maa gauri
